SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Juliette Low Elementary School merged with Thunderbolt Elementary School back in 2017.
It was not easy bringing together two school communities, but their hard work paid off. Getting state recognition for their efforts.
âWell, I think definitely the energy level, they hit you right off the bat, so itâs something that you know youâre likely to come in to say, âhey this a very welcoming place.â Also looking about not only what is going to happen to my kids, you know here at this school, but reaching out to the middle school their feeder program,â Georgia State Superintendent Richard Woods said.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Millions of dollars are headed to schools in the Coastal Empire.
U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff said this money was earmarked through the American Rescue Plan passed by Congress earlier this year.
One of the biggest amounts is the more than $95 million going to the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System.
While the district is excited about the money, it does come with some warnings from budget leaders within the district. Obviously, they are glad to be getting the help and support, but they say they have to be strategic in how they use it.
