A Saudi official from the Saudi Foreign Ministry has revealed that the kingdom is talking with Iran to deescalate tension in the region, Arabic news sources reported
Reuters stating on Friday.
According to the Arabic news sources,
Reuters reported Ambassador Raed Karimli, head of Policy Planning at the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, affirming: It is early to say that we reached any specific outcomes, hoping success for these talks.
In an interview with Saudi
Dr. Atallah Zayed Al-Zayed was recently appointed the Saudi ambassador to Comoros.
Al-Zayed, along with several newly appointed ambassadors, took oath during a virtual meeting with King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
He joined the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1990 and has served in several departments.
The top diplomat has represented Saudi Arabia in Kuwait, Iran, Jordan, the US, Egypt and Finland. Al-Zayed worked in various positions, including security management and internal control.
He is fluent in three languages: Arabic, English and Persian. He has taken part in numerous conferences and events with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It’s easy to see why there’s an enduring attraction for a regional security dialogue in the Middle East. Countries in the region face shared and borderless challenges including terrorism, insurgency, environmental safety, arms races, cybersecurity, maritime piracy, and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction that can be dealt with more effectively through multilateral measures.
Such a regional framework is now incredibly important because it could either make or break any deal the Biden administration forges with Iran to limit its nuclear program. Indeed,
even the most reasonable U.S.-Iran nuclear accord will have a low chance of pacifying the region and being accepted by Washington’s regional partners if it is not accompanied by comprehensive security talks that address, among other things, Iran’s ballistic missiles and proxy threat network. Naturally, such talks require a regional forum in which ideally all key regional powers participate.
