Woman with leukaemia says nobody took her complaints seriously

A woman has revealed how she dismissed her painful aches and exhaustion as being a drama queen before being diagnosed with a rare leukaemia. Lily Whitmarsh, 20, from Gillingham in Dorset, had a reputation for being a hypochondriac so when she started to complain about night sweats, cramps and fatigue last year, no one was too concerned - including herself.  But when huge bruises and blood spots all over her tongue and the inside of her cheeks appeared, Lily s concerned GP referred her to Salisbury hospital. Following further tests, she was diagnosed with Philadelphia Positive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL), a rare and rapidly spreading blood cancer.

Southampton man to cover 1200km to raise funds for hospital

A SOUTHAMPTON resident is planning to run, swim and cycle 1200km in a year in a SECOND mammoth fundraising effort in memory of his late father. Managing Consultant Vinay Sonchatla from Bassett raised nearly £10k last year after running 1000km over a 12 month period. The 46-year-old s efforts raised enough to buy two vein finding machines for the cancer care ward of Southampton University Hospital, which he said provided fantastic support to his dad during his cancer treatment. Speaking about his newest challenge, Vinay said: After the money for the vein finder machines was raised, I was speaking with the nurses and I said what else do you need ?
