Aronda Smith-Benson is an alumna of Terrebonne High, business owner, consultant, coach, combat veteran and Ivy League graduate. She has returned to her her hometown of Houma to start her latest project, Legacy Business Center.
The center, in Southland Mall, provides affordable workspaces and personalized consulting services to help grow local start-ups and early-stage businesses.
“After 20 years in Philadelphia, I’ve accomplished a lot as a business leader and I wanted to bring all of that knowledge and expertise back home,” Smith-Benson said. “As a Houma native, my plan is to invest in our local economy by focusing primarily on business development for entrepreneurs, start-ups and small businesses.”

KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) Anyone who has spent a significant amount of time living in the Kalamazoo area knows that there were a lot of malls around town decades ago. At one point, there were five indoor malls in the metro area, not including the outdoor walking mall in downtown Kalamazoo.

They included Crossroads Mall and Southland Mall in Portage, as well as Eastowne Mall on the city’s east side, and West Main Mall and Maple Hill Mall, directly across the road from each other on the city’s west side. It was a shopper’s dream. But we all know the era of shopping malls has ground to a halt in recent years and currently only one of those indoor malls remains as it was constructed. That being Crossroads Mall in Portage, which is itself struggling now.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Memphis police plan to hold a âSea of Blueâ for an officer they say was killed by a drunk driver.
On Monday, March 8, Officer Nicholas Blow was off-duty when another car crashed into him as he was pulling out of the Raines Station parking lot. Blow was rushed to the hospital where he died.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority says there have been several active outbreaks of COVID-19 in the province this week.
On Thursday, Green Line Manufacturing in Saskatoon was identified; also that day, Creative Wood Interiors in Osler. The Town Office in Osler was identified on Tuesday.
On Monday, an outbreak was declared at KFC in Meadow Lake, and then 2 days later, at a McDonald’s in that community. In Lloydminster on Monday, the declaration was made concerning Bea Fisher Aboriginal Affairs Program. In Glaslyn, Holy Cross Church was identified on Wednesday.
Three places were pointed out in Regina: on Tuesday – Mark’s in Southland Mall and TD Canada Trust on Prince of Wales Drive; also, Regina General Hospital, Mother and Baby Unit on Thursday.
