SHE SAYS SHE WAS JUST GETTING READY TO BRING SNACKS TO HER THREE GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN YESTERDAY MORNING, WHEN SHE LEARNED THEIR MOTHER HAD BEEN SHOT AND KILLED. I LOOKED AFTER HER LIKE SHE WAS MY OWN CHILD. I’D LOVE TO MY GRANDKIDS. IT IS JUST SO SAD. SHE HAD FOUR YOUNG CHILDREN UNDER 11, THREE WITH HER GRANDSON, NOW AT A STATE. WHATEVER THEY NEED, I AM HERE FOR MY GRANDKIDS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS HAVE BEEN. HER HUSBAND WAS ARRESTED YESTERDAY. THEY SAY HE CALL 911 AFTER 6:00 A.M., SAYING HIS WIFE NEEDED HELP. ROD GRASSMANN: THESE TWO WERE THE ONES THAT WERE SHOOTING AT EACH OTHER. MELANIE: INVESTIGATORS COMBING AND ANGELA BERRY APARTMENT COMPLEX FOR ANSWERS, FOCUSING THEIR ATTENTION ON TWO SEPARATE LOCATIONS WITHIN THE COMPLEX, ONE SPOT WHERE A MAN WAS FOUND WITH GUNSHOT WOUNDS AND THEN TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. The Sacramento Board of Supervisors is under fire for how it s spending the remaining coronavirus relief money.
A large portion of the remaining $49.6 million of CARES Act funds will go toward health services and some will go to the Sacramento County Sheriff s Office, but critics say there are far more pressing issues in the community like rental assistance and helping small businesses struggling amid the health crisis.
Vice Chair Sue Frost says the decision made is intended to make the county s budget go further. Frost assures that any CARES Act money that goes to public safety will come back to the county s general fund, so that by next year, more people can get the financial assistance they need.

Dec. 17 A 9-year-old girl hit by stray gunfire at a Del Paso Heights park. A 27-year-old father randomly targeted as he waited in line at an Arden Arcade market with his 4-year-old daughter at his side. Two teenage brothers killed while they and others shopped on Black Friday at Arden Fair mall.
Even as the coronavirus pandemic shut down much of society, deadly crime in Sacramento County spiked in 2020.
These are just a few of the victims of violent crime in Sacramento County as the number of homicides increased this year, even as the COVID-19 pandemic forced various phases of shutdowns that closed schools and businesses to prevent further spread of the coronavirus.
