Tamana man shot dead, 2 wounded

A 25-year-old Tamana man was killed on Friday night, and two of his relatives injured, when a gunman opened fire on them as they were liming.
According to police, at about 7 pm, Shaquille Joseph of Carmichael Village Street, Tamana was at the roadside when a white Nissan Tiida stopped and a gunman got out and opened fire.
The gunman then got into the car and the driver sped off.
Raj Singh, 40, and Ajay Singh, 13, who were nearby were grazed in the chest and right leg, and right arm respectively.
All three were taken to the Sangre Grande Hospital where Joseph was declared dead at 7.38 pm, while the two others were treated.

JUST six seconds into 2021, a woman at the San Fernando General Hospital (SFGH) delivered this country’s first New Year’s Day baby.
Asha Dookie delivered a boy at 12.06 am who weighed 2.73 kilogrammes on Friday.
Health Minister Terrence Delaysingh made the announcement at a press conference on Friday at the nearby Teaching Hospital where he congratulated the mothers on their bundles of joy.
Owing to the pandemic, media personnel were not allowed to meet the mothers and their newborns at the maternity ward as is traditionally done.
Grande man 2021’s first road traffic fatality
He was identified as Roderick Dedier, of Cedarwood Drive, North-Eastern Settlement, Sangre Grande.
Police said he was driving north on the Ojoe Road when he collided head-on with a white Hyundai Tuscon, driven by a 51-year-old man of Ojoe Road, going in the opposite direction.
Dedier was taken to the Sangre Grande Hospital but died. The driver of the Tuscon fled the scene and did not make a report.
An autopsy is expected to be done on Dedier’s body next week.
In a release, the police advised there would be an increase in police exercises on the road in the coming days.
