Bihar government on Monday presented the state budget in the Assembly. The budget of over Rs 2.18 lakh crore for 2021-22 fiscal was presented in which the state government has allocated the highest fund to the education sector of Rs 38,035 crore, an 8 percent increase from the previous fiscal. This year the budget was presented by Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tarkishore Prasad.
Refuting opposition charge that abolition of APMC Act has worked against farmers of Bihar,Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Tuesday said in fact the agri reforms have benefitted the cultivators which could be understood from the fact that the state has made highest ever 35.59 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of paddy procurement in the current season. Replying to a debate on the motion of thanks on the Governors address to the joint session of the state legislature on Friday,the chief minister mentioned the pioneering efforts made by the state to fight coronavirus and other initiatives to improve health, power,road etc, drawing a comparison with the scenario 15 years back.

Patna (Bihar) [India], February 22 (ANI): The Bihar government on Monday presented a budget of over Rs 2.18 lakh crore for 2021-22 fiscal in the Assembly, with highest allocation of Rs 38,035.93 crore for the education sector in the state, an 8 per cent increase from the previous fiscal.
This was the first budget presented after the State Legislative Assembly elections of last year.
Deputy Chief Minister Tarkishore Prasad, who holds the finance portfolio, presented the revenue-surplus budget in the House. We have presented a budget of Rs 2,18,302.70 crore for 2021-22, which is Rs 6,541.21 crore more than the total estimates for the current fiscal. The revenue surplus is estimated at Rs 9,195.90 crore, he said while presenting the budget.
The Bihar government on Monday presented a Rs 2.18 lakh crore budget for 2021-22 fiscal in the Assembly, with no new tax and a thrust on infrastructure and social sectors. Presenting the revenue-surplus budget in the House, Deputy Chief Minister Tarkishore Prasad, who holds the finance portfolio, proposed to introduce a separate department for skill development and entrepreneurship. We have presented a budget of Rs 2,18,302.70 crore for 2021-22, which is Rs 6,541.21 crore more than the total estimates for the current fiscal. The revenue surplus is estimated at Rs 9,195.90 crore, he said. In his maiden budget speech, Prasad said the state government made the highest allocation of Rs 38,035.93 crore for the education sector, followed by Rs 16,835.67 crore for rural development, Rs 15,227.74 crore for roads, Rs 13,264.87 crore for health and Rs 8,560.00 crore for energy.
