This year, when nothing felt like “business as usual,” I really needed to do “Christmas as usual.” Judging by the early joydemic of festively decorated homes, a lot of people out there did. November was mercifully mild and with so many people working from home or thanks, COVID! not working at all, we had ample time to deck the halls.

The second weekend of December rolls round with Santa showing up, and a bunch of Christmas trees brightening Columbia Mall.
The jolly scene is masterminded by Lynne Roche. She’s special events manager for the Grand Forks Park District. The Santa Village celebration has been going on 20 years with her unique designs of Christmas trees overwhelming people young and old at the Lincoln Park office building. It has been a custom for many to visit the display and enjoy Christmas treats.
