SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) On Thursday, the Santa Clara County Superior Court ruled a South Bay church pastor threatened with jail time for holding in-person services will remain free for now.
Robert Tyler, an attorney for Calvary Chapel in San Jose, made the announcement on the court steps just after 5 p.m. following the contempt hearing.
Santa Clara County sued Calvary Chapel Pastor Mike McClure and his church to stop it from hosting indoor services without face masks amid a worsening COVID-19 pandemic. The county has expressly said that they re only looking for monetary sanctions, Tyler says. Not looking to put Pastor McClure or Pastor Carson Atherley in jail, thank God.

CAMPBELL, Calif. FriendFinder Networks Inc. (FFN), operator of AdultFriendFinder.com, has won a $116,000 judgment in favor of its subsidiary Medley.com Incorporated in the Santa Clara County Superior Court, California, against PlentyOfFish Media ULC., a subsidiary of Match Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: MTCH).
The action comes after FFN discovered in 2019 that it had overpaid PlentyOfFish for members sent to AdultFriendFinder over the course of a business relationship that goes back to 2011. Unfortunately, PlentyOfFish refused to correct this overpayment by refunding the extra monies, and it was necessary to file litigation.
The litigation concluded when PlentyOfFish offered entry of judgment for a reduced amount, having successfully whittled down the amount owed by arguing legal statutes of limitations applied.

(CN) As expected, a federal court declined to grant a temporary restraining order Friday to a California-based church that has repeatedly flouted local Covid restrictions during an ongoing state case.
U.S. District Court Judge Beth Labson Freeman denied Calvary Chapel, a church based in San Jose, a requested temporary restraining order, noting that the San Jose Superior Court is entertaining an ongoing case in which the church and its pastor Mike McClure have been held in contempt of court.
“Amidst the struggling days of the COVID-19 pandemic, plaintiffs Calvary Chapel San Jose, Southridge Baptist Church, Mike McClure, and Micaiah Irmler (collectively, “Plaintiffs”) ask this court to disregard our Federalism and seek a temporary restraining order,” Labson Freeman wrote in a terse nine-page order.
