DA charges Union City boyfriend with death of 24-year-old transgender woman

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The Santa Clara County District Attorney on Tuesday announced that prosecutors had charged a Union City with murder, following the death of a 24-year-old transgender woman in Milpitas.
In a statement, prosecutors said that Elijah Cruz Segura, 22, stabbed to death Xeonte Brown, also known as Natalia Smüt Lopez on April 23, and then called 911 about 2:30 a.m.
Responding officers arrived at a home in the 1000 block of Hillview Court in Milpitas found the woman with multiple stab wounds.
She was pronounced dead at the hospital. Segura, whom authorities said had blood on both of his hands, was arrested at the scene.

Santa Clara County DA is expected to announce charges against a man, police say, is responsible for the death of a transgender woman.
MILPITAS, Calif. - The Santa Clara County District Attorney is expected to announce charges on Monday against a man whom they say is responsible for the death of a transgender woman.
Milpitas police say 24-year old Natalia Smüt was killed by her boyfriend on Friday.
Police also say that 22-year old Elijah Cruz Segura of Union City called 911 saying the victim was injured and that he was responsible for her injuries.

Man arrested in killing of girlfriend in Milpitas, police say

A Union City man was arrested and booked into Santa Clara County jail for homicide after his 24-year-old girlfriend died from injuries that he said he caused, according to police.
Milpitas police arrested Elijah Cruz Segura on April 23 after he called 911 at 2:29 a.m. and reported the victim’s injuries. Segura, 22, told police he was responsible for the injuries, police said.
The victim was not identified.
Police reported to the 1000 block of Hillview Court and found the woman lying on the ground with “significant injuries.” Police said they provided aid until fire department personnel and parademics arrived to the scene.
