Pair Arrested On Multiple Felonies After 11-Inch Blade Found During Santa Clarita Traffic Stop A pair of suspects were arrested Wednesday on a slew of felony charges after allegedly finding an 11-inch blade, drugs and stolen checks in their vehicle during a Santa Clarita traffic stop. Around 4 p.m. Wednesday, deputies patrolling the 31800 block of Castaic Road in Castaic observed a vehicle with no identifying information on record for the license plate attached, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “During a traffic stop, deputies contacted a male and female adult, and while speaking with the female adult, she was unable to provide any identifying information or registration to the vehicle,” Arriaga said.

Derrick Alfred of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau said detectives were still waiting for the official determination on the cause of death from the Coroner’s Office, and would not discuss whether there were any signs of foul play, instead preferring to refer to the investigation at this point as a suspicious death, as opposed to declaring it a suspected murder.

Drugs, Metal Knuckles Found In Car After Routine Traffic Stop In Santa Clarita A wanted suspect was taken into custody early Wednesday morning on multiple charges after a routine traffic stop in Santa Clarita. In the early morning hours of Wednesday, deputies patrolling the 17200 block of Sierra Highway observed a vehicle with an active warrant identified to the license plate of the vehicle, resulting in a traffic stop, said Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. After coming in contact with the suspect, deputies observed drugs and drug paraphernalia within reach of the man, according to Arriaga.

Before the festivities of Independence Day begin the city of Santa Clarita is reminding residents that fireworks are illegal to use and possess within the community. Mayor Bill Miranda was joined by City Councilmembers, Supervisor Kathryn Barger, the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Department, the Los Angeles County Fire Department and the Grossman Burn Center this morning for a fireworks press conference to reinforce this message. The conference was concluded with a pyrotechnic demonstration to showcase the potentially costly dangers that result from fireworks.
