Felony DUI Suspect Arrested After Injuring Three Individuals In Valencia Crash
A Castaic man was arrested Sunday evening for felony driving under the influence, (DUI) after sending three individuals to the hospital after he allegedly ran a red light and “broadsided” a vehicle.
On Sunday around 9:30 p.m., first responders received reports of a traffic collision on The Old Road near Rye Canyon Road in Valencia, said Officer Josh Greengard, a spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol Newhall Area Office.
“(The suspect) was driving a 2018 Honda Accord with one passenger,” Greengard said.
The suspect was driving northbound on The Old Road approaching Rye Canyon Road and failed to stop for the red light at the intersection and “broadsided” a 2011 Mini Cooper, according to Greengard.
The Rye Fire would go on to burn roughly an acre of land and send four people to nearby trauma centers with “extensive injuries,” three of which were said to have been in “critical condition when they were taken to the hospital.
“Two of the victims were later transferred to a burn ward,” Bedoyan added.
Investigators with the LASD’s Arson and Explosives Detail are still working with officials from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station to complete their investigation into the incident.

The two were taken to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail for booking, where Navarette’s bail was set at $50,000, and Anderson’s bail was set at $100,000.

Known Theft Suspect Arrested On Several Felonies In Valencia
A known theft suspect was arrested on a slew of felony charges Monday evening after deputies recovered multiple stolen items in his vehicle after a Valencia traffic stop.
On Monday evening, deputies were patrolling Valencia when they spotted a vehicle used in a previous theft of brass backflow valves, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station in an official Facebook post.
“As deputies contacted the male occupant of the vehicle, they identified him as the suspect from the previous theft,” Arriaga said.
While speaking with the driver, deputies observed various brass water valves, as well as a battery-powered saw, which officials say is typically used as a burglary tool, in plain view inside the vehicle, according to Sheriff’s officials.
