Weekend Arrests Slightly Decline Over Holiday Weekend Despite the longer holiday weekend, a slight decline in weekend arrests was reported compared to the previous weekend. A total of 26 arrests were reported by the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and California Highway Patrol Newhall Area Office, six fewer arrests from the previous weekend, according to weekend arrest logs. Of these arrests, 45 percent were made on charges related to drugs and alcohol. Four of those charges were reported as drivers under the influence (DUI) of drugs, alcohol or both. Another four of those 11 arrests were reported as possession of a controlled substance or narcotics.

Three of those 14 arrests were reported as possession of a controlled substance or narcotics. Out of the 32 total reported arrests, 15 arrested individuals were residents outside of Santa Clarita, including residents from Palmdale, Lancaster and Yakima, Washington Not included in that count were four transient individuals, who were charged with driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance. 10 of the weekend arrests were felonies out of 32 total arrests. One of these arrests was a Lancaster transient, charged with driving under the influence with prior charges, whose bail was set at $725,000. Do you have a news tip? Santa Clarita Valley Weekend Arrests Double Over Previous Weekend Over the weekend, 38 arrests were reported in the Santa Clarita Valley, double the arrests  compared to the previous weekend. 38 arrests were reported by the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and California Highway Patrol Newhall Area Office, double the 19 arrests from the previous weekend, according to weekend arrest logs. 14 of the weekend arrests were felonies out of 38 total arrests. One of these arrests was a Canyon Country resident, charged with sexual assault against a person under 16 years old, whose bail was set at $1,000,000. Nine of the drug/alcohol charges were reported as drivers under the influence (DUI) of drugs, alcohol or both.
