Santa Barbara detectives reopen 1975 cold case investigation
SANTA BARBARA
Detectives are reopening the investigation into the decades-old unsolved killing of a teenage boy near Santa Barbara with the help of DNA technology that didn’t exist at the time of his death.
The body of 16-year-old Paul Ornelas was found near railroad tracks in an unincorporated area on June 21, 1975, but an investigation over several years never led to arrests, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office said this week.
“Ornelas’ unsolved murder has left his family with lingering grief,” the office said.
Now, investigators have a tool called the ANDE Rapid DNA instrument that has been successfully used in critical cases such as the 2019 Conception dive boat fire that killed 34 people off Santa Cruz Island. In that case, the device was used to rapidly identify the dead.

The Santa Barbara police was called to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Montecito abode nine times in nine months reportedly.
In a Page Six report, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex started to see a surge in tresspassers ever since they moved in their permanent home in Santa Barbara.
According to the
Telegraph, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office responded to calls listed as phone requests, alarm activations and property crimes pertaining to where Harry and Meghan live.

police have been called to their home nine times in nine months.
Ever since the couple moved to the celebrity enclave with baby Archie in July 2020, Santa Barbara County Sheriff s Office has responded to calls listed as phone requests, alarm activations and property crimes. The month they moved in, cops were reportedly called to the couple’s home four times in the wee hours of the morning.
The most recent call was an alarm activation at nearly 3am on February 16th. That’s just two months after a man was arrested for trespassing on their property on Christmas Eve.
