BUELLTON, Calif. - Highway 101 was temporarily closed north of Buellton on Saturday after a vehicle collided with a motorcycle, critically injuring one.
California Highway Patrol responded to the crash just after 12 p.m. They said they found both vehicles on the right-hand side of the northbound lanes and some debris in the slow lane.
The first arriving Santa Barbara County Fire engine at the scene reported finding a motorcycle rider in her 30s lying in the roadway with serious injuries.
County paramedics immediately began providing the rider with life-saving treatments while a CALSTAR helicopter responded. CHP closed both sides of the freeway around 12:28 p.m. for the landing.

On Monday, public health reported the county’s highest daily number of new cases, 360. The increase in new cases is seen across all areas of the county, Do-Reynoso said.
“The numbers indicate that we have to continue to take this pandemic seriously,” First District Supervisor Das Williams said.
A state-mandated stay-at-home order is in effect for the Southern California region, which includes Santa Barbara County, because hospital beds are quickly filling up with COVID-19-positive patients.

I have disagreed with most of the COVID-19 policies that Gov. Gavin Newsom has employed over the past nine months, but his new regional stay-at-home order is the
coup de grâce! Santa Barbara County is now officially out of business!
Last month we were on the verge of elevation to the less-restrictive orange tier from the red tier when Newsom magically moved us back to purple, the most restrictive tier.
His new regional plan, which is not based on science, places the county in a region with half the population of California. What is Santa Barbara County’s common thread with Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego counties? It must be nice if you live in the greater Sacramento region, where the population is less than 1 million.

SYVCHF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to develop, manage and channel financial support on behalf of Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital. Since 1978 SYVCHF has supported significant hospital initiatives including patient care programs, capital equipment and facility infrastructure upgrades.
In July, the foundation launched a CT Replacement Campaign to raise $550,000 for a state-of-the-art CT (computerized tomography) scanner at Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital. The updated equipment will replace an older model that is nearing the end of its life span. Last year, 3,768 CT scans were performed at SYVCH.
Additionally, donations are welcome to the Emergency Response Fund and Unrestricted Fund to enable the hospital to respond to health care changes, and to the Endowment Fund to ensure the hospital’s future financial health.
