Cigar rollers at the Flor de Copan factory in Honduras are busy making a new H. Upmann brand and when it ships in June, all sizes will retail for $8 or less. The line is called H. Upmann 1844 Classic, and it’s an all-Honduran blend save for the light, Connecticut-seed wrapper grown in Ecuador.
According to distributor Altadis U.S.A., the H. Upmann 1844 Classic is intended to be medium bodied. This is achieved through the blend of Honduran broadleaf binder and Cuban-seed tobaccos grown in the Santa Rosa de Copan region of Honduras.
The new line will be available in four sizes: Corona, measuring 5 inches by 44 ring gauge; Robusto, at 5 by 52; Toro, at 6 by 54 and a 7-by-50 Churchill. The cigars will come in boxes of 25, and suggested retail prices will range from $7.10 to $8 per cigar.
