El Alma Del Pueblo At TMA Captures The Lives Of Old- And New-World Artisans.
By Margaret Regan
OUR LADY OF the Rose has no relation to the over-exposed
Rose of the movie
Titanic, but she s a queen of the sea
all the same. Lashed to a wall at the Tucson Museum of Art, she s
a gorgeous carved ship s figurehead who bears a wooden rose in
her hand. Once upon a time, she guided Spanish sailors across
the Atlantic s treacherous seas. Right now she helps visitors
navigate their way through the gigantic show
El Alma del Pueblo:
Spanish Folk Art and Its Transformation in the Americas.

After forgoing in-person festivities in 2020, the San Antonio Film Festival is back again in person this summer, showcasing a variety of offerings for cinephiles of all stripes from August 5-8 at the Radius Center.
Now in its 27th year, the San Antonio Film Festival was founded by director Adam Rocha in 1994. This years catalog, slightly short of 100 films, features selected work from last year s event. Rocha maintains that film festivals are important for filmmakers, so it was crucial that 2020 bids have their chance to make their debuts.
