Study weighs economic power of San Antonio nonprofits

Instead of focusing the services that San Antonio-area nonprofits offer, a new study takes a look at their collective economic impact.
The study uses the most recent data available to provide a snapshot of the local nonprofit industry before the coronavirus pandemic struck, bringing with it a surge in demand for services even as organizations have been struggling with canceled events and volunteer challenges.
The 1,731 organizations included in the analysis employ close to 68,000 people, or about 7 percent of the San Antonio metro area’s workforce, paying them $2.5 billion per year.
