Coronavirus positivity rate increases while other indicators continue to show improvement

The positivity rate for coronavirus infections increased by 3 percentage points Monday, returning to 5.6 percent where it was at the beginning of the month.
Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff said the increase could be the result of less testing for the virus last week during spring break. He said 20,047 people were tested, a 38,760 decrease from the previous week.

SAN ANTONIO – With all Texans 50 years old and over now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, the pool of people anxiously looking for appointments has grown larger.
While many Bexar County residents have had to rely on luck and good timing to snag a coveted spot at one of the mass vaccination sites, some have wondered if there’s a better way. On Tuesday, one alternative will come up again - the creation of a vaccine registry or waitlist.

Officials with two major COVID-19 vaccine providers in San Antonio say they aren’t convinced the city needs a one-stop sign-up portal for people trying to schedule vaccinations.
San Antonio is the only major Texas city without some form of a vaccine registry. Other major cities including Austin, Houston and Dallas have systems that allow residents to sign up and be notified later when an appointment becomes available.
The San Antonio Metropolitan Health District reported 200,664 total COVID-19 cases and 2,990 total deaths in Bexar County, an increase of 171 new cases as of Sunday. Three new deaths were reported today.
