Metro Health sends alert recommending everyone wear masks in indoor settings to slow the spread of COVID-19 Updated:  Alert from Metro Health sent on July 28, 2021. (KSAT 12) SAN ANTONIO – Metro Health sent a text alert to Bexar County residents Wednesday afternoon recommending that everyone wear masks indoors, including those who are fully vaccinated. The recommendation is in line with updated guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that also advise people to wear masks indoors regardless of vaccine status. The move back to stricter guidelines in regard to mask-wearing is due to the increase in cases and hospitalizations. Bexar County is now at a moderate risk level for COVID-19 and the community positivity rate has risen to 17% this week, according to Metro Health.

Face masks are now recommended for all indoor public settings across Bexar County under a new health advisory from San Antonio Metropolitan Health District. It follows similar guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention earlier this week. In the health advisory, mask usage is strongly encouraged but not mandated for all residents above two years of age. It also encourages all persons teachers, students and staff in schools to wear masks and keep at least 3 feet of distance.
