Executive Order No. FMZ-066 aims to minimize the transmission of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) after the city government determined that the celebration of the Chinese New Year on February 12 could be a “superspreader” event.
“In order for the City of San Juan to sustain the gains it has achieved against its battle with COVID-19 and to thwart the current resurgence of the disease and its new strain/variant, it is necessary and proper to regulate any and all events, activities or festivities in the celebration of the 2021 Chinese New Year,” the statement read.
San Juan City Mayor Francisco Zamora was ecstatic with the approval of the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) of COVID-19 vaccine maker AstraZeneca by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Thursday.
