Texas Keo named San Joaquin County Teacher of the Year

Ripon Elementary School teacher Texas Keo has been named the 2021 San Joaquin County Teacher of the Year by the San Joaquin County Office of Education. Keo, who has been teaching at Ripon Elementary School for the past 14 years, is a model to follow.  She currently teaches transitional kindergarten through third grade as a Title 1 Response to Intervention teacher for reading and math. Keo described herself as determined, committed and a fighter, all which are easy to see in her everyday work ethic.  “We have a transitional kindergarten class. Fifth annual H2O Hackathon returns as students solve algal bloom problem

Premise of the H20 Hackathon? Students compete using their coding skills to create an app that will help solve a specific water problem affecting San Joaquin County. Teams consisted of four students and a coach who worked together to develop an app to help solve a water problem.  “The H20 Hackathon is a community-supported event that taps into the problem-solving skills of San Joaquin County students to help find solutions to the state s water issues.” San Joaquin County Office of Education said in a statement. Students had until 2:30 p.m. to provide to judges a link of their working app and a five minute time limit to present their work.
