A Stanislaus County sheriff’s deputy that fired the shots that killed a Modesto woman in Ripon in 2017 may finally see his day in court.
Justin Wall, who was only 24 when he was involved in a pursuit from Stanislaus County into Ripon following 46-year-old Evin Olsen Yadegar, was charged with manslaughter by the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office for his role in the woman’s death.
Yadegar, who led police on a slow-speed chase from Salida into Ripon and eventually came to a stop on South Manley Avenue, began to back up before pulling forward drive around a Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department vehicle when Wall stepped forward and began firing shots from his service weapon to try and stop the vehicle.

Local business owners in San Joaquin County have been receiving information over the course of the last month about qualifying for up to $250,000 worth of “disaster assistance” funding from the “Small Business Administration.”
The only problem?
The email that has been making the rounds – and has resulted in some businesses turning over sensitive information – isn’t legitimate and is part of a new tactic being deployed by scammers to take advantage of small business owners during the difficult economic times.
On Dec. 23, officers raided the hair salon in Lincoln Center, which has remained open in defiance of the state’s latest COVID-19 order that went into effect earlier this month in regions where intensive care unit availability fell below 15%. They were trying to scare us, said Vicki Kirk, co-owner with her husband, Ballin, and a stylist at Pomp Salon. They were trying to scare us into complying.
Pomp Salon and two stylists, including Kirk, were cited and ordered to appear in court on Feb. 24, 2021. But the San Joaquin County’s District Attorney’s Office announced it will not file charges.

STOCKTON – Pomp Salon owner Dino Ballin remains steadfast to stay open.
He and others in the hair salon industry have filed an injunction against the state’s lockdown order after his business was raided last week by the California Department of Consumer Affairs. The plaintiffs have retained well-known criminal defense attorney Mark Geragos.
