Sacramento Antifa protesters block traffic near California Capitol

A group of about 100 protesters stopped traffic in downtown Sacramento on the day of the presidential inauguration. The day began quietly with few protestors in sight of the Capitol but with more barriers and an even larger police presence than previous days. A group identifying themselves as Sacramento Antifa announced on Twitter it planned planned to meet at about 10 a.m. Wednesday a few blocks from the Capitol at Fremont Park to march against far-right terror. All was placid around the Capitol in the morning, but Sacramento police reported some activity nearby at about 11 a.m. Some small groups of people, wearing all black, shields, and helmets have begun to congregate at local parks in the area of the Capitol, police said.

Their priority will be (and has always been) to protect property over people’s well-being. We have seen this through the summer in the George Floyd uprisings.”
