COVID19 vaccine Distribution
Sonora, CA – Tuolumne County Public Health has confirmed 17 new community COVID-19 cases that are all isolating at home. There are 26 more inmate cases at the Sierra Conservation Center (SCC) for a total of 509 inmate COVID-19 cases or 23.8% of the inmates. Four COVID-19 positive individuals are currently hospitalized. Two previously hospitalized individuals were released from the hospital and continue to isolate at home. A total of 28 individuals were released from isolation today.

San Andreas, CA – While Calaveras County recorded another 45 new coronavirus cases, frontline workers started receiving the Pfizer vaccine today (Friday).
Public Health received its first doses of the vaccine this week and has been working with state and local partners to distribute it. Mark Twain Medical Center also received doses of the vaccine and will begin vaccinating frontline healthcare workers, according to health officials. They add in their written update that “initial doses will go to frontline health care workers and vulnerable members in long-term care settings with broader distribution happening in months.” Noting that this is hopeful news to people, they continue to advise that the “best thing everyone c
This week, the first round of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, some 4,875 doses, was distributed by San Joaquin County Public Health to the county’s seven hospitals, who inoculated their health care workers. Some 1,950 doses went to St. Joseph’s, which has a deep freezer. Pfizer’s vaccine and the Moderna vaccine, which soon is expected to be approved by the Food & Drug Administration, are RNA vaccines, a technique that never has been used before in a human vaccine but is extraordinary and appears to be a highly effective technique, Neeley said.
Neeley explained the RNA vaccine mimics the virus’ mechanism of action but does it in an extraordinarily safe way, “because you’re not producing a live virus,” he said.

The first round of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine continues to roll out in San Joaquin County.
On Wednesday, the vaccine was administered to eligible members of the staff at Doctors Hospital of Manteca in accordance with Food & Drug Administration, Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, state and local guidelines.
On Thursday, vaccines were administered to staff at San Joaquin General Hospital in French Camp and Kaiser Permanente in Manteca.
Sandra Heinze was Kaiser Permanente s first employee to receive the vaccine in the Central Valley, according to a company spokesperson. As staff watched, Heinze, a registered ICU nurse at Kaiser Permanente in Manteca, said it didn t hurt a bit and that she didn t hesitate to take the shot.
