A former University of Colorado and professional football player who took his own life in September had paperwork for the NFL Concussion Settlement program on his dining room table, 9Wants to Know has learned.
Drew Wahlroos was 37 when he shot himself in the chest Sept. 2 at his San Diego condominium after an argument with his girlfriend.
He left no note, according to reports filed by a San Diego coroner’s investigator that were obtained by 9Wants to Know.

IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. A man drowned early Thursday morning after apparently jumping into the ocean from the Imperial Beach Pier, authorities said.
Dispatchers received a call shortly after 12:35 a.m. from a person who reported that an intoxicated man had jumped into the ocean from the Imperial Beach Pier and was having difficulty swimming, said San Diego County Sheriff s Sgt. Robert Posada.
Deputies responded to the scene and found a man clinging to one of the pier s support pillars in the water, Posada said. A short time later, the man became unresponsive and released his grasp on the pillar.
CARLSBAD
The motorist who was killed in an early-morning crash on Interstate 5 in Carlsbad on April 4 has been identified by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office as Brayand Alejandro Cambell-Davilla, 23, of Imperial Beach.
According to an earlier report on the incident, the crash occurred at about 4:45 a.m. when Cambell-Davilla’s 2008 Hyundai Elantra veered left and hit the center divider on northbound I-5 just south of Tamarack Avenue. The car spun out, re-entered the freeway and then came to a stop, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Cambell-Davilla was either thrown from the vehicle or exited on his own and was struck by two passing cars, which also hit his vehicle. Cambell-Davilla was dead at the scene and the other two drivers reportedly had minor injuries.
ESCONDIDO
The driver and passenger killed in a crash just west of the Lawrence Welk Resort on April 2 have been identified as Andrew Manriquez Alarcon, 17, and Hugo Alfredo Ramirez Ramirez, 19, both of Vista.
According to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office, Ramirez Ramirez was the driver of a sedan that was traveling at a high speed when it went off the road in a rural unincorporated area north of Escondido. The car was discovered several hundred feet down a steep ravine off of Lawrence Welk Court west of Interstate 15.
Alarcon was a passenger in the front seat of the car.
