Officials said five bodies were removed from Sharp Grossmont Hospital, located in La Mesa. Campman said four hospitals contacted the county in recent weeks with concerns about the space left in their morgues, but said those hospitals were previously able to solve spacing issues by collaborating with local morgues.

EL CAJON     A person was found dead Tuesday afternoon in a dirt field by a homeless encampment near the Magnolia Avenue off-ramp from Interstate 8 in El Cajon. California Highway Patrol Sgt. Peter Azcaiturrieta said a call came in at 3:25 p.m. from a witness who observed a motionless body in an open dirt field just south of the Magnolia Avenue near a Motel Six and a China Buffet close to the off-ramp. “Another transient in the area was walking along a storm drain and discovered a body face down,” Azcaiturrieta said. “There were no obvious signs of trauma. It doesn’t appear there was any foul play.”

(CNS) - San Diego County authorities Tuesday released the name of an Escondido homicide victim. Rafael Octavio Choza, 63, suffered multiple stab wounds on Dec. 22, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner s Office. Police arrested 52-year-old Shelley Reaves on suspicion of killing Choza in the Escondido apartment they shared, authorities said. Dispatchers received a call shortly after 7 p.m. that day from a woman who reported that her roommate was dead inside an apartment at 660 N. Quince St., Escondido Police Lt. Kevin Toth said. Officers responded to the apartment and found an unresponsive man inside the apartment with obvious signs of trauma, Toth said.

At about 10:25 p.m. Wednesday, a 911 caller reported finding a man down on the ground with blood surrounding him in the parking lot of the Bank America branch on E Street and Third Avenue, Chula Vista police Lt. Jason Deaner said. Officers responded to the scene and found the man with apparent wounds on his body, Deaner said. The man, whose age was not immediately available, was pronounced dead at the scene.
