Medical Examiner ID s Body Buried on Fallbrook Property

Updated 6 hours ago Peter Byrne/PA Images via Getty Images The San Diego County Medical Examiner s Office on Wednesday identified the body found buried on a property in Fallbrook last week as 56-year-old Robert Berry Pierce. Pierce s buried body was reportedly discovered last Wednesday, July 21, on a property along South Ridge Drive, south of Live Oak Park Road, belonging to Nicolas Burg, 29, according to the San Diego County Sheriff s Department. Burg was arrested Friday in Murrieta on suspicion of murder and booked into the Vista Detention Facility, SDSO Lt. Thomas Seiver said. The Medical Examiner s Office has conducted an autopsy but has not revealed Pierce s cause of death. His death was ruled a homicide and the SDSO Homicide Unit is still investigating the case.

Deputies unearthed the remains of 56-year-old Robert Pierce on July 14 while investigating a suspicious circumstance in the 400 block of South Ridge Drive, according to sheriff s officials. Two days later, the man who owns and lives on the property, Nicholas Andrew Burg, 29, was arrested in Murrieta on suspicion of killing the then- unidentified victim, Lt. Thomas Seiver said. Last week, Burg pleaded not guilty to a murder charge and other criminal counts in the case. At the time, Pierce was still officially listed as a John Doe.

Mexican citizen dies after falling from border fence in Otay Mesa

OTAY MESA    A Mexican citizen suffered fatal head injuries Sunday after falling from a border fence in Otay Mesa, authorities said. The man’s age and name were not released. About 6:30 p.m. Sunday, a Border Patrol camera operator spotted three people trying to cross over a fence about a mile and a half west of the Otay Mesa Port of Entry. When a Border Patrol agent arrived, he found an individual near the base of a secondary fence, according to a statement from U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The agent was taking the person into custody when he heard a thud. He then saw an unresponsive man lying on the ground on the northern end of the fence.
