Expansion brings online grocery payment capability to 1,500 more stores in 15 states
Publix Super Markets, The Save Mart Companies and Price Chopper/Market 32 have partnered with Instacart to enable Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participants to directly pay for online grocery orders through electronic benefit transfer (EBT).
Instacart said Thursday that EBT payment capability for SNAP online purchases is now available chainwide at Lakeland, Fla.-based Publix, which operates 1,269 stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. And in California and Nevada, Save Mart has begun accepting online EBT SNAP transactions at all of its 203 Save Mart, Lucky California, Lucky and FoodMaxx stores.

Crafts chain launches pilot of same-day delivery service, adding to Instacart’s roster of non-grocery retailers
Continuing its move beyond same-day delivery for groceries, e-commerce platform Instacart has launched a pilot program with arts and crafts retailer Michaels to deliver from nearly 100 stores across Chicago, Dallas and Washington D.C.
With the new partnership, Irving, Texas-based Michaels customers can shop online for delivery in as fast as an hour for thousands of arts and crafts products including canvases, yarn, paint and other art supplies. Following the initial pilot, Michaels delivery via Instacart is expected to expand to all 1,272 Michaels stores in the U.S. over the coming months.

Targeting stores that don’t have testing on-site, the kit will be Walgreens first over-the-counter COVID-19 testing option available for purchase in-store. This builds upon Walgreens and Labcorp’s recent rollout of Pixel by Labcorp COVID-19 PCR Test Home Collection Kits on Walgreens Find Care, a digital health platform available on the Walgreens app and website.
