With new personnel, the Takács Quartet kicks off spring season at Cal Performances The Takács Quartet keeps evolving as the membership shifts and turns over, but the fundamental qualities of this invaluable ensemble a combination of worldly-wise intensity and expressive fervor – seem to remain constant. With the retirement of violist Geraldine Walther last year, only cellist András Fejér remains of the original lineup formed in Budapest in 1975. Violist Richard O’Neill is the newest member of the group.
