A statue of Abraham Lincoln was defaced over the weekend at San Francisco’s City Hall, the latest assault on the 16th president, who is also known as the Great Emancipator for his role in leading the Civil War and ultimately abolishing slavery.

A statue of Abraham Lincoln at San Francisco City Hall was defaced over the weekend, the former president’s face and name covered in shiny red paint.
The incident reflects a growing debate over the legacy of the Civil War president in San Francisco, including a proposal to rename Lincoln High.

The San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus is a local legend. Founded by LGBT activist and musician Jon Reed Sims in 1978, it’s not only one of the world’s largest choruses (today they have more than 300 singers), they’re credited for helping create the LGBT choral movement.
Now, the group are the subject of a new documentary called “Gay Chorus Deep South,” which debuts on Dec. 20 on Pop, Logo and Pluto TV (they’re also taking their annual Christmas show online this year, streaming as part of the annual Broadway on Demand concert on Christmas Eve).
