A 2019 Silverado High School graduate and former member of the Hawks baseball team has been identified as the person killed in a Sunday morning car crash on a remote stretch of Interstate 15 north of Barstow.
Troy Matthew Yoda, 19, of Victorville, died at the scene north of Alvord Mountain Road following the single-vehicle crash, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Coroner’s Division said in a statement.
The California Highway Patrol Barstow Area Office said Yoda had been driving south on I-15 just after 7 a.m. Sunday when his vehicle, a 2001 Honda, veered into the center median and later went airborne when it entered Manix Wash. The front of the car then hit the wash’s concrete wall.
The search for Joey Espinosa, 20, missing since Sunday, May 16, has been expanded into Joshua Tree National Park. A Park spokesperson said the National Park Service in partnership with San Bernardino County Sheriff, and the California Highway Patrol, is conducting a missing person search in the park. Espinosa, of Oceanside, was last seen by a family member who dropped him off 30 miles East of Twentynine Palms, he said he was answering a “Call from God” and walked south into the desert. Park staff became aware that he may be in the park on Sunday May 23 and began a search that day. He is believed to be alone. He is described as a Hispanic male, 5’8″ in height, 300 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a dark blue or black tee shirt with Matthew 4:4 on the back, black cargo pants, and black shoes. He was carrying a canteen. (KGTV) â San Bernardino County authorities are searching for a 20-year-old man from Oceanside who disappeared at Joshua Tree National Park.
Joseph Joey John Alvarez Espinosa was last seen by a family member who dropped him off for a hike on Sunday, May 16, according to the National Park Service. Park staff were made aware that he may be in the park a week later and began their search that day. He is believed to be alone.
