San Mateo Lyft driver facing rape charges pleads no contest to kidnapping

Tonye Kolokolo A Lyft driver accused of raping a woman he was supposed to drive home pled no contest to simple kidnapping on the condition the prosecution dropped rape and other kidnapping charges, the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office said. The driver, Tonye Kolokolo, 46, of Tracy, originally faced charges of rape and kidnapping to commit sexual assault after picking up a woman and taking her to his Tracy home instead of hers to have sex while she was intoxicated, the District Attorney’s Office said. The defense and prosecutors reached a no-contest agreement for kidnapping on the condition of dropping the other charges and no further jail time. The two sides reached an agreement after the judge admitted testimony as relevant from the defense’s toxicologist about the victim’s blood-alcohol level during another night out two years earlier. Man arrested at San Mateo Trader Joe s over mask argument pleads no contest | Local News

A man who pushed an employee at Trader Joe’s in San Mateo for being told to wear a mask inside has pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office. Chad Busto, 40, of Santa Barbara, agreed to serve 25 days in county jail and received credit for 20 days of time served. He is also on probation for two years and must stay away from Trader Joe’s on Grant Street in San Mateo. Busto first walked into Trader Joe’s Dec. 8 and an employee told him he would have to wear a mask to be in the store. Busto screamed, “do not touch me,” even though the employee had not touched him. He pushed the employee, knocking him backward. Busto then walked around the store without a mask and screamed. Employees called the police and, when officers arrived, Busto waved the officers over and told them he was the person Trader Joe’s called about. Six months jail for former San Mateo cop who stole from Foster City Little League

Jeff Aspillera A former San Mateo police officer found guilty of embezzling more than $100,000 from Foster City Little League has been sentenced to six months in jail and three years probation, the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office said Thursday. Jeffrey Aspillera, 47, of Hayward, will surrender to authorities May 1 to complete his time. He has one day of credit in county jail. He will also have to repay $70,971 in restitution to Foster City Little League and must have no further contact with anyone involved. Prosecutors asked for six months in jail because of the amount of stolen money involved. The defense asked for electronic home monitoring instead of county jail time, the District Attorney’s Office said.
