CARLSBAD
The Carlsbad City Council is scheduled to meet at 3 p.m. Tuesday for a presentation on regional COVID-19 vaccination coordination. The council will consider using the Biotech and Beyond building as a regional point of distribution for vaccination and testing programs coordinated by emergency services agencies. The council will hear a presentation on the city’s Clean Energy Alliance power supply product offerings.
San Marcos is looking toward the future of its extensive park system with an eye toward up and coming sports and perhaps a new aquatics center.
The City Council last month approved its updated parks master plan, which includes improvements ranging from construction of major facilities to adding neighborhood parks and reconfiguring athletic fields.
The plan relied on standards from the National Recreation and Park Association and data from a telephone survey of area residents.
City recreation officials also held town hall meetings on the plan update, and met with focus groups including the Trails Advisory Committee, Friends of San Marcos Parks and Recreation, the San Marcos Youth Sports Council, and the San Elijo Women’s Club, as well as equestrians, artists and seniors.

The Carlsbad City Council will meet at 3 p.m. Tuesday for final approval of its hotel employee recall rights ordinance. Reports will be presented on the city’s 2019-20 annual financial audit results and on upcoming municipal service reviews by the Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) of the city of Carlsbad and Carlsbad Municipal Water District.
