San Luis Obispo County Superior Court Judge Craig van Rooyen ruled Thursday, Feb. 18, that there was enough evidence to try a Paso Robles man for two counts of murder after the stabbing death of his pregnant girlfriend.

Paso Robles police detectives arrested a 23-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman in Arizona on Thursday for allegedly being accessories in the murder of Trevon Perry.
Police detectives and investigators with the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office traveled to Lovelock, Nevada to arrest Mario Rostro III and Heather Montgomery. Officers then booked Rostro III and Montgomery into the Pershing County Jail, while they await extradition to California.
In Dec. 2019, Perry testified against a murder defendant who allegedly killed his childhood friend. On March 16, 2020, before a trial date was set in the case, Perry’s family reported him missing.

Two relatives of the man accused of murdering 27-year-old Trevon Perry of Paso Robles testified last week they helped bury the victim’s body in the backyard of a house in Riverside. [Tribune]
In Dec. 2019, Perry testified against a murder defendant who allegedly killed his childhood friend. On March 16, 2020, before a trial date was set in the case, Perry’s family reported him missing.
On June 18, 2020, investigators found Perry’s body at a home in Riverside. Detectives later arrested Nicholas Ron, 23, of Paso Robles for Perry’s murder, and officers arrested several other suspects on accessory to murder charges.

Gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, on the other hand, is the unlawful killing of a human being without malice aforethought, in the driving of a vehicle, where the driving was under the influence, and the killing was either the result of an unlawful act, like a traffic violation.
The verdict is the second time within a week that a San Luis Obispo County jury could not agree on an “implied malice” murder conviction in a DUI-related murder trial.
On Thursday, jurors found Chelsea AnnMarie Stiles guilty of gross vehicular manslaughter after splitting 11-1 on the murder count for a December 2019 crash that killed another motorist.
