Two arrested in Atascadero after compliance check finds drugs, weapons

–On Friday, detectives from the Atascadero Police Department’s Special Enforcement Team assisted the San Luis Obispo County Probation Department to conduct a compliance check in the 7200 block of Cortez at approximately 3:51 p.m. The units were assisted by Narcotic Detectives from the SLO Sheriff’s Special Operations Unit and K-9 teams from the Sheriff’s Office and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. During the compliance check a search was conducted, resulting in the seizure of a large amount of fentanyl. Officers also located and seized methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, firearms, and ammunition. The resident, 38-year-old Ryan Stolz, was placed under arrest for being a felon in possession of firearms, possession of narcotics, willful cruelty to a child, and revocation of probation.

Judge reduces Ruben Flores bail in Kristin Smart case

1:37 Hearings continued April 21 to determine a bail amount for Ruben Flores, who San Luis Obispo County District Attorney Dan Dow charged with accessory to murder in the suspected killing of Cal Poly student Kristin Smart in 1996. Ruben Flores is the father of Paul Flores, who is being charged with first degree murder in the Smart case. Judge Craig Van Rooyen reduced Ruben Flores’ bail from $250,000 to $50,000. The judge said that he would revisit the bail amount if Flores’ ability to afford the amount changes. The bail comes with conditions, including that Ruben Flores obey all laws, stay in San Luis Obispo County, turn over his expired passport to the court within 24 hours of his release from custody and submit to electronic ankle monitoring by the San Luis Obispo County Probation Department.

Authorities serve search warrant, arrest Paso Robles man on drug charges

Mario Enrique Saucedo Rodriguez, 23, Paso Robles. –On March 25, members of the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit, San Luis Obispo County Probation Department, and Homeland Security Investigations served a search warrant at a residence in the 1200 block of Corral Creek Avenue in Paso Robles. A sheriff’s K9 was used to search the apartment and discovered a bag of suspected methamphetamine, and baggies of suspected heroin on the bedroom closet floor. Additionally, the K9 alerted to a backpack near the bed and on a dresser next to the bed. Detectives found evidence that was consistent with the sales of narcotics including two digital scales, packaging, and a ledger book.
