SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. - The San Luis Obispo County District Attorney s Office announced that a county jury has convicted a woman of numerous charges after deliberating a crash that killed a San Luis Obispo man in 2019.
27-year-old Chelsea Annmarie Stiles has been convicted for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated; driving under the influence of a drug causing death; four counts of assault with a deadly weapon using an automobile; leaving the scene of a vehicle collision causing injury; child abuse; and misdemeanor possession of cocaine.
However, the jury was unable to come to a unanimous conviction for the serious charge of murder after a two-month trial. The vote ultimately came to 11 to 1 in favor of guilt.

A San Luis Obispo County jury found an Arroyo Grande woman guilty of multiple charges in connection with a fatal crash on Highway 227.
Chelsea Annmarie Stiles, 27, was convicted of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving under the influence of a drug causing death, assault with a deadly weapon using an automobile, leaving the scene of a vehicle collision causing injury, child abuse, and possession of cocaine.
However, after deliberating for several days, jurors were unable to reach a unanimous verdict on a charge of murder. According to the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney s Office, the jury s decision was split 11-2 in favor of guilt.

Judge Matthew Guerrero pointed specifically to a Sept. 4 campaign fundraising email sent by Dow and his wife and paid for by his re-election campaign that sought financial donations and claimed that Dow was “leading the fight” against the “wacky defund the police” and social justice movement, reports say. That email was sent just days after his office filed charges against alleged protest organizer Tianna Arrata.
The case will now be sent to the California State Attorney General’s Office.
