The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office served a new search warrant in the ongoing Kristin Smart investigation March 15 at the Arroyo Grande home of Ruben Flores, Paul Flores’ father.
Smart, a former Cal Poly student, first disappeared from the university nearly 25 years ago after leaving a party in 1996.
Flores was reportedly the last person seen with Kristin Smart while walking her back to the residence halls after the house party.
Paul Flores is a long-time person of interest in Smart’s disappearance, but he is now being named as the prime suspect in the case.
Police are using cadaver dogs and ground-penetrating radar to search the property.

On Monday, detectives investigating the disappearance of Cal Poly student Kristin Smart searched the backyard of Ruben Flores, the father of Paul Flores.
Paul Flores is now considered by the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff s Office to be the prime suspect in Smart s disappearance back in May of 1996.
Located on White Ct. in Arroyo Grande, the home is just a short drive away from the home of Paul s mother, Susan.
While her house was not searched Monday, it has been several times in the past.

INVESTIGATORS in the Kristin Smart cold case used cadaver dogs and radar to search a home on Monday nearly 25 years after the student disappeared.
Detectives served a search warrant at the Arroyo Grande house of Ruben Flores, who is he father of “prime suspect” Paul Flores, the Los Angeles Times reported on Monday.

A judge allowed the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office to use dogs and ground-penetrating radar to execute the search linked to Smart, who vanished on May 25, 1996, on her way home from a party outside of her campus.

Investigators in the case of Kristin Smart, the college student missing since 1996, served a search warrant at the home of the prime suspect’s father, officials said Monday.
The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office on Monday announced it served a search warrant at the Arroyo Grande home of Ruben Flores, the father of Paul Flores, who has been the prime suspect in the case for years. Officials say Paul Flores was the last person to see Smart on May 25, 1996.
The warrant was served at 7:30 a.m. and the search could take up to two days to complete, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office said.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff s Office utilized more than just detectives at the home of Ruben Flores, Monday. Cadaver dogs and ground-penetrating radar could also be seen searching around the home.
This is not the first time either of these tools has been used in this case.
Cadaver dogs from the Santa Clara County Sheriff s Office alerted to the door of a 1985 Volkswagen Cabriolet, last registered to Ruben and Susan Flores.
For cadaver dog trainer and former U.S. Border Patrol Officer Roy Lopez, he says even after years have gone by cadaver dogs can still pick up a scent.
