One person died and another was hospitalized after a side-by-side ATV fell through the ice Saturday in Lakeport Township.
According to a press release from the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office, the incident was reported at 6:18 p.m. on Dec. 26. The caller said his mother, father and sister had gone underwater when the side-by-side submerged. Though he pulled all three victims out of the water and began CPR on his mother, the caller said she was unresponsive.
Youth injured in two-vehicle crash
A juvenile female was transported to a Bemidji hospital with possible back injuries on Dec. 30 after failing to yield at an intersection in Helga Township.

A juvenile driver was injured in a two-vehicle collision Dec. 30 in Hubbard County.
According to a press release from the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office, the crash was reported at 3:52 p.m. on Beltrami Line Road in Helga Township.
Responding deputies found two vehicles off the roadway with extensive damage. Investigation showed that a 2017 Dodge truck driven by Verne Smith, 72, of Bemidji was traveling east on Beltrami Line Road when it encountered a 2012 Honda Accord, northbound on 279th Ave.
Minnesota s first COVID-19 vaccines arrived Monday at four different locations across the state.
Those sites included the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Sanford Bemidji Medical Center, Olmsted Medical Center and Cass Lake Indian Health Services.
Future vaccine distribution will go through a series of hubs across the state, including one in St. Cloud, according to information shared by the Minnesota Department of Health on Monday.

Failure to yield
According to a press release from the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office, a two-vehicle accident took place Dec. 17 on County Road 3 in Becida.
Dispatch received a report at 5:07 p.m. of a two-vehicle crash with injuries. Arriving deputies found both drivers outside their vehicles.
Investigation showed that Shaylyn Roberts, 39, of Solway was driving south on County 3 in her 2015 Subaru Forester when she attempted to turn left into the Becida bar, in front of a northbound 2011 Toyota pickup driven by Greg Judd, 52, of Bemidji. The vehicles collided, resulting in severe damage to both.
