WORTHINGTON ― A Sandstone resident is facing charges for four additional criminal offenses in connection with multiple crimes that took place in Worthington this summer.
Brian Baragar was arrested June 17 for possession of stolen property and DWI. On June 19, Baragar had hurt himself while in Nobles County Jail and had to be taken to Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for treatment. While there, he allegedly checked himself out of the hospital without receiving the surgery he needed, and escaped police custody with the help of his sister.

WORTHINGTON “Connect with nature.” “Listen to music.” “Sleep.” “Go on a walk.”
Those were the types of simple messages Worthington High School students were asked to illustrate on windows at Sanford Worthington Medical Center this week. WHS art teacher Gail Holinka and about 15 students spent portions of three days engaged in painting at the hospital.
Members of the school’s AOK (Art, Optimist, Kiwanis) Club were involved in the painting, and Holinka said the project was also open to any student interested in volunteering.

WORTHINGTON It has been a record-breaking construction year in the city of Worthington in terms of the overall values reported on building permits.
As of Dec. 8, 502 building permits had been issued by the city thus far in 2020, with the total value of the permits totaling $72,064,369. That’s according to information provided by Worthington Assistant City Administrator/Director of Economic Development Jason Brisson and Worthington Building Official Armand Eshleman.
SHELDONâIt has almost been two years but Kelvin Francisco Rodriguez can still barely watch the video of his assault by a Worthington, MN, police officer and the officerâs friend.
That incident left the 34-year-old Sheldon resident bleeding internally and with four broken ribs that punctured his liver and pancreas.
The Minnesota ACLU filed suit in October 2019 on Rodriguezâs behalf and the city of Worthington recently settled the matter for $590,000 while also agreeing to make reforms to its police department.
Changes include police officer aggression and resistance reports in cases; prohibiting warrior training; requiring Fair and Impartial Policing Training and offering officers incentives to learn a second language.
