Karnataka, India: Over 24 patients, including several COVID-19 patients, died at a government hospital in Karnataka s Chamarajanagar district allegedly due to the shortage of oxygen.
District In-charge Minister Suresh Kumar reached at the spot to take the stock of the situation. There were at least 24 patients, including coronavirus patients who have died at Chamarajanagar District Hospital due to oxygen shortage and others reasons in last 24 hours, the In-charge said. We are waiting for the death audit report for confirmation, In-charge added.
Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has spoken to the district collector over the incident and called an emergency Cabinet meeting for tomorrow (Tuesday).

Chamarajanagar (Karnataka) [India], May 3 (ANI): Strict action will be initiated against those who are responsible for the shortage of oxygen supply to Chamrajnagar hospital due to which at least 24 patients have lost their lives, said District Incharge Minister Suresh Kumar on Monday.
An inquiry has been ordered into the matter by the district incharge.

In a tragic incident, as many as 24 patients, including some of the novel coronavirus, died at a hospital in Karnataka in the past 24 hours. According to the details, Chamarajanagar District Hospital faced a shortage of oxygen following which several patients passed away. Commenting on the situation, District Incharge Minister Suresh Kumar said they are currently waiting for the death audit report.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has spoken to the Chamarajanagar district collector over the incident and has called an emergency cabinet meeting tomorrow.Â

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], May 3 (ANI): Karnataka Congress president DK Shivkumar on Monday slammed the state government over the incident of Chamarajanagar district hospital and said criminal negligence has led to these 24 deaths in state.
Shivkumar also hit out at Cheif Minister BS Yediyurappa and Health Minister K Sudhakar for assuring people that the state has enough amount of oxygen. Criminal negligence has led to these 24 deaths in Karnataka. Why do Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and Health Minister K Sudhakar keep lying everyday saying there is enough oxygen? Is there no accountability? How many more will be killed because the government cannot supply Oxygen? Shivkumar tweeted.
In yet another hospital tragedy in the country in the recent days, 24 patients, 23 of them covid-infected, died in Karnataka s Chamarajanagar due to alleged oxygen shortage in the district hospital in the last 24 hours, with the government warning of stringent action against those found guilty. The government ordered a probe into the matter and appointed senior IAS officer Shivayogi Kalasad as the inquiry officer. The incident evoked a sharp response from the Congress, with party leader Rahul Gandhi wondering how much more suffering before the system wakes up. In heart-breaking episodes preceding today s incident in the country, a fire at a mall in Mumbai housing a Covid- designated hospital in March left nine, including those on ventilators, dead, while 22 COVID-19 patients who were either on ventilator or oxygen support, suffocated to death when their oxygen supply stopped suddenly due to a malfunction in the main storage at a civic hospital in Nashik.
