Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson has affirmed his commitment to coach out his contract, until Sam Mitchell takes over at the end of next season.
The four-time premiership mastermind set aside the start of his Thursday morning press conference to respond to speculation of tension with Mitchell.
“It’s a little bit disappointing it’s had to transpire the way it has… it should be a really exciting period for he and us as a club,” Clarkson began.
“Even for me despite transitioning out of the senior role at the club, I couldn’t be more delighted in the sense that another product of our football club is going to be a senior coach in the AFL.”
Russellville Independent Schoolâs Jennifer Howard was among 24 educators honored recently by being selected as Kentucky Valvoline Teacher Achievement Award winners for 2022.
Howard has worked at RHS for six years and says it is an absolute honor to have been nominated.
âIâm so excited to be able to represent a school and community that has shown me so much love and support over the years,â said Howard. âWhile Iâm not a native of Russellville or Logan County, it has become a place that has shaped me both personally and professionally. I hope that through this recognition I am able to shine a light on the amazing teachers and students we have in our district.â
Share I ve worked with Clarko for nearly 20 years and the fact that people would say that I m trying to push him out is disrespectful to both of us because we ve had a working relationship for such a long period of time. I did get a little bit frustrated with people saying, Oh, he s just trying to get Clarkson out . If I wanted to coach next year I would ve continued to pursue the Collingwood opportunity. so every piece of evidence says that isn t true.
Mitchell flatly rejected reports that a meeting with Clarkson and Hawthorn powerbrokers last week was set out for mediation.

Future Hawthorn coach Sam Mitchell has strongly denied reports he wants Alastair Clarkson to depart the club a year earlier than agreed to in the succession plan.
It was reported earlier in the week by Caroline Wilson on
Footy Classified that Mitchellâs preference was to take the head coaching role in 2022 rather than 2023, while Clarkson was set to dig his heels in and stick around.
Speaking on
SENâs Whateley, Mitchell admitted the last few weeks have been âquite the baptism of fireâ.
However, he strongly denied the reports and provided detail on the succession plan and stepping away from the Collingwood coaching search.
