Jessica Plummer has revealed she felt as though one of her friends was terminally ill when she was told her EastEnders character was going to be killed off.
The actress, 28, said she went through a period of mourning for her character Chantelle Atkins, who died at the hands of her domestic abuser husband Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith) in September, but admits it was a really odd feeling.
Speaking on Netmums Sweat, Snot and Tears podcast on Tuesday, she said: It kind of felt like I’d just been given the news that a friend had become terminally ill or something.

Luisa seemingly exited the BBC One soap in December last year when her character Tina was killed by Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith) in a dramatic New Year s storyline though viewers were quick to point out a fatal flaw in the murderer s plan could mean Tina is actually alive.
Posting to Instagram on Wednesday (February 17), Luisa appeared to address rumours of Tina s return.
Appealing directly to the fans speculating about Tina s mortal status, the actress implied Tina really is dead and will not be returning to Albert Square. At least, that s what she wants us to think.

Jessica Plummer would return to EastEnders - despite her character being dead.
The 28-year-old star played Chantelle Atkins in the BBC One soap from 2019 until late last year when her character was killed by her husband Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith), and the actress admitted she wouldn t hesitate about returning to Albert Square if producers wanted her back.
She said: I love EastEnders and if they called tomorrow and said, Come back, I wouldn’t be able to turn it down.
However, Jessica believes it was the right time to leave last year, and she was pleased to be part of an explosive exit storyline.
