Barriers now block unsafe portion of beachside parking at Sauble Beach

A plan to cut back encroaching sand dunes and install a retaining wall along Lakeshore Boulevard North between the Crowd Inn and Kinloss Lane, to increase space for vehicles, was protested by the neighbouring Saugeen Ojibway Nation before being spiked by the courts in response to a resident’s request for a judicial review.

Grey Sauble Conservation Authority Receives Grant To Combat Buckthorn

The $1,000 will go to Buckthorn Control at the Massie Hills Management Unit, in the Municipality of Meaford. The Education and Community Action Microgrant Awards For Ontario are part of the Ontario Invasive Species Centre’s 10-Year Anniversary celebrations. This funding also went to 23 other organizations across the province. Executive Director at the Invasive Species Centre Sarah Rang says, “we are pleased to support the exciting microgrant project work being completed this year to support prevention and management of invasive species.”

Saugeen Valley Conservation properties reopened

The Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority has reopened its properties for passive recreational use. The conservation authority had closed its properties after the provincee announced strengthened stay-at-home measures that came into effect on April 17, but reopened them on Thursday following discussions with the Grey Bruce Health Unit.
