The Grey Sauble Conservation Authority is receiving $1,000 to support invasive species education and community action.
The $1,000 will go to Buckthorn Control at the Massie Hills Management Unit, in the Municipality of Meaford.
The Education and Community Action Microgrant Awards For Ontario are part of the Ontario Invasive Species Centre’s 10-Year Anniversary celebrations.
This funding also went to 23 other organizations across the province. Executive Director at the Invasive Species Centre Sarah Rang says, “we are pleased to support the exciting microgrant project work being completed this year to support prevention and management of invasive species.”

The Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority has reopened its properties for passive recreational use.
The conservation authority had closed its properties after the provincee announced strengthened stay-at-home measures that came into effect on April 17, but reopened them on Thursday following discussions with the Grey Bruce Health Unit.

Campgrounds will be open to those with serviced seasonal contracts April 30, while unserviced seasonal sites will open May 20, the SVCA said in a tweet.
All users are reminded to adhere to the advice of public health such as wearing a mask and practising social distancing.
