EastEnders star Jessica Plummer has opened up about her on-screen death in the soap, admitting that she felt the need to mourn .
The actress s character Chantelle Atkins departed as part of a domestic abuse storyline after her character was killed by abusive husband Gray (Toby-Alexander Smith) in disturbing scenes.
Recalling how she found out around Christmas 2019 that she would be exiting, Jessica told the
Sweat, Snot & Tears podcast: I had a feeling when I was called to the meeting that it would be to discuss that. There were only two ways the storyline was going to go – [Gray] was going to die or she was going to die.
EastEnders Gray Atkins will set his sights on Whitney Dean, as they grow closer next week.
Whitney (Shona McGarty) developed feelings for the lawyer prior to her murder trial last year, and even tried to kiss him.

EastEnders fans have been left stunned after tonight’s episode saw Gray Atkins brutally murder Tina Carter after she worked out the truth about Chantelle’s death.
The shocking twist was on the cards after Boxing Day’s episode ended with Tina confronting Gray (Toby Alexander Smith) about why Chantelle (Jessica Plummer) was going to leave him before she died.
