As of Jan. 8, the number of total coronavirus cases reported in Louisiana increased by 3,372 and the number of deaths had increased by 105, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.
Of these cases, 2,492 are confirmed cases and 880 are probable cases.
LDH says that the 105 deaths reported today is the second-highest number of COVID deaths reported in a single day. The only day with a higher number of deaths was April 14, 2020, when 129 deaths were reported.
The total coronavirus case count in the state on FRIDAY was 341,431 cases. The current total death count is 7,833.
