UK should have pandemic poppies to commemorate Covid dead, says ex-general Luke O Reilly
Covid poppies should be created to help remember those who lost their lives during the pandemic, a former general has suggested
General Sir Lord Dannatt, who helped organise the UK s World War One memorials is leading a campaign to make March 23 an annual “Covid Memorial Day”.
Each minute’s silence would be held in schools, public venues, and workplaces, the Telegraph reported.
The initiative, backed by 50 MPs, also wants to erect a Covid memorial in every town.
“There are war memorials in every city, town and village , General Sir Lord Dannatt said.
