A Dunkirk man who was in Pennsylvania is in custody and has been charged in a pair of March stabbings.
Dunkirk city Police Chief David Ortolano announced Friday that following an investigation by the department and the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office, Jose Rivera-Perez, 31, was arrested and taken into custody on a felony warrant charging him with first-degree assault in connection with the incident.
According to reports, the first stabbing described by Chautauqua County dispatch as a male, was located around 7:40 p.m. in the area of Park Avenue and East Sixth Street. The second victim, located about 10 minutes later, was found nearby in the area of Deer Street.

A Forestville man charged last year following a rash of burglaries in numerous towns has been indicted by a Chautauqua County grand jury.
Gary Lang, 52, pleaded not guilty when arraigned Feb. 24 in Chautauqua County Court to a single charge of third-degree burglary, a class D felony. He was originally charged in January 2020 with two counts of second-degree burglary, five counts of petit larceny, third-degree criminal tampering and trespassing after an “extensive investigation” into burglaries reported over two months in the towns of Ripley, Pomfret and Gerry.
According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Lang allegedly entered two homes at night while residents were asleep and stole property. The Forestville man also reportedly took property from several unlocked vehicles.
