THE United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and the Tanzania Social Action Fund (TASAF), government department responsible for safety net programmes, have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen food security for 300,000 vulnerable families.

THE United States Agency for International Development (USAID) yesterday handed a food consignment and other cash contribution all of which are valued at $8 million (over 18bn/-) to the United Nations food relief agency, the World Food Programme (WFP) as food relief for refugees living in Tanzania.

Today, at the Tanzania Port Authority, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) welcomes an US$8 million contribution from the United States Government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The contribution will help maintain critical food assistance to refugees living in Nduta, Mtendeli and Nyarugusu camps in north-western Tanzania.
