West Seattle Blog… | From repair planning to West Marginal Way questions @ West Seattle Bridge Community Task Force s February meeting

West Seattle Blog editor SDOT says it’s making progress toward high-bridge repairs, though they are still more than half a year away. The bridge update brought most of the new information at Thursday’s monthly meeting of the West Seattle Bridge Community Task Force, but with so many related projects, the meeting was stuffed so full of presentations that CTF members had little time to discuss anything, and the plan for breaking into groups for opinions of the West Marginal Way bike-lane proposal had to be scrapped. First, here’s video of the two-hour meeting: Here’s what caught our attention:

West Seattle Blog… | Bumps? Bulbs? Time for your feedback on draft side-street Home Zone plans, unveiled @ HPAC

Kyle January 29, 2021 (12:53 pm) What will “wheel stop curbing and conveyance swales” look like? Trying to understand what that design element will look like in my head. Agree with most of what’s been outlined here for the plan. Glad SDOT is working with HPAC on this! Would love to see a lot of this implemented quickly. reed January 29, 2021 (1:46 pm) Here is a conveyance swale on 49th Ave SW just south of Brandon L January 29, 2021 (4:21 pm) It’s going to be really difficult to make any meaningful changes, traffic will just divert to other side streets.    Instead of wasting time on this, why doesn’t SDOT get with the program and accelerate the timeline for getting the bridge fixed.     It should not take so long.   Opening up the lower bridge to more cars would also help a lot as well.   There is just no good reason for closing the bridge to cars so early in the day (especially on weekends).

West Seattle Blog… | Revised plan for upzoned site, park-project updates, more @ Morgan Community Association

REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT: Project-team members from StoryBuilt were there to talk about the 41st/Graham project. Brandon Burrowes and Patrick Cobb, both West Seattle residents, explained that their company specializes in “infill.” The project at 6314 41st SW is a 20,000-sf, 3-parcel site upzoned by HALA Mandatory Housing Affordability to Lowrise 3. The project has changed since they had an early community meeting last year. The project will have fewer units (now 36), plus less height – 30 to 40′ in an area zoned up to 50′ – and more parking (15 spaces) than zoning requires (zero). The units will range from 500 sf to 1300 sf, in a mix of townhouses and flats, and though the city files still describe the project as “apartments,” the StoryBuilt reps say these will be units for sale, likely ranging from $300,000 to $700,000.
